Sonic the Hedgehog 4 due out next month

Just look at that and tell me the little kid inside you isn’t excited! No, really do tell me. We need more comments. But anyway, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (Episode 1, ugh, does this mean it’s gonna have 3 levels and then make us wait for Episode 2, 3, and the rest…) has a release date! And a new trailer. It’s looking remarkably like the original 2D classics that I grew up with, albeit with a nice 2010-sheen to everything. Click below for release date info and the newest trailer.
Alan Wake: The Writer – New DLC Trailer

The next instalment of Alan Wake’s tale is on its way, and there’s a new trailer for it below. After the relatively short (but free for most people who had bought the game) first bit of DLC, The Signal, I’m hoping this new one will be considerably longer and have a bit more to it, especially since it’s gonna cost 560 MS points. It’s out on October 12th, apparantly. Check out our other Alan Wake related ramblings here.
Minecraft – Growing and growing and growing…

We’ve had a surge of hits in the past few days, and it’s 99% because of Minecraft. I’ve covered the game before, and took you on a tour of a world we created in the ‘classic’ version of the game, but a LOT has happened in the land of cubes lately, so I thought it was a good to have a little catch up…
Left 4 Dead – The Sacrifice Comic Part 2

Forgot to mention this when part 1 was released, admittedly. Left 4 Dead is getting its own comic series which will bridge the gap between the end of the first game and the upcoming DLC The Sacrifice, which will be available for owners of either game. It contains some excellent artwork, but I thought the writing was a bit cheesy myself. Still, it’s worth checking out if you’re curious about the back-story of the characters and want a bit more meat added to the overall story. I’m off to read Part 2 now, follow me over here… Read More ››
Bioshock Infinite – First gameplay footage!

Wowzers. The first glimpse of gameplay from the upcoming Bioshock Infinite is out. Click below for 10 minutes of highly scripted in-engine footage.
Team Ico news – HD remakes, and The Last Guardian trailer

Tokyo Game Show has kicked off, and the only game I was interested in has already been shown off. There’s been no new news of The Last Guardian for over a year, and the new trailer is as gorgeous, and intriguing as 2009’s E3 trailers. It seems to show a bit of gameplay, but is mostly in-engine footage of the big creature and the kid interacting. Having been getting rather excited at the thoughts of the game coming out soon, I now have to calm myself down as the supposed release date will be “Holiday 2011”, according to IGN. I don’t know what this means, exactly, but it’s obviously not going to be out anytime soon! In the meantime, I’ll have the HD remakes of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus to keep me busy, and that’s a fine compromise to me. Click below for trailers.

Mario is 25 today. Cripes

Mario has been around for 25 years, as of today. Nintendo have made a cool retrospective video about the iconic plumber, which is worth a watch. I’ve never been the biggest fan of his games, due mostly to a severe lack of skill on my part at old classic platformers which Mario practically invented. It’s impossible to deny the influence these games have had on the industry, though. Paul has been playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 and will hopefully have a review up soon. In the meantime, Happy Birthday, Jumpman ^_^ Read More ››
Halo Reach incoming…

Ever heard of Halo? Yeah, they’ve made a new one. It’s quite good apparantly. All the TV adverts are hideously pretentious and rubbish so here’s an old trailer which came out ages ago instead. Paul and I will probably get this and play the co-op which has always been the best feature of this massively-overrated franchise. It’s out tomorrow.
Movie Review – The Expendables

Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Bruce Willis and Governator Arnie. With the most manly cast of any movie in history, you should at least have an idea of what to expect from The Expendables.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent – Demo

Holy mother of shitting crikey that was horrible. Paul and I just played through the demo of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and it has to be the scariest demo I’ve ever played, and quite honestly I don’t know HOW I managed to finish it. It’s by the maker’s of Penumbra, but its undoubtedly better… Major demo spoilers below, but go play it for yourself right now.
R.I.P. Satoshi Kon – Anime loses a godfather

Last week brought about an unpleasant feeling of disappointment and sad disbelief. I was not in grief when I heard the news, because its not like I knew the man personally, nor in fact even knew what he looked like until it was announced, but when I heard the news of Satoshi Kon’s death, aged 47, I couldn’t help feeling we’ve lost a brilliant creative mind before their time was up. He was one of the most promising anime directors currently active, responsible for introducing me to the wonderful world of Japanese animation, and was yet to make a film anything less than mesmerising. I deeply admired his work and am genuinely gutted at the thought of never seeing what else may have come out of that extraordinary imagination.
Duke Nukem Forever – Gearbox take the reins

Duke Nukem Forever is gonna be released! Gearbox have picked it up. I am currently watching a live stream from PAX, and Randy Pitchford is talking about the game.. No way! He just pointed at the camera and told them to turn it off! Looks like he’s gonna carry on filming anyway…click below, this is exciting!
