Ghost Trick Playable Demo

How would you like to play a demo of a new DS game by the makers of Pheonix Wright? Of course you do. And you don’t even need a DS to play this one. The Pheonix Wright games are some of the most fun puzzle adventure games out there full of amusing characters and lots of mystery. Ghost Trick looks and feels very familiar, but its unique game mechanic of possessing inanimate objects to solve puzzles feels pretty entertaining from this short demo. Go here and have a look. Live from Multiplay i41

Moooooorning. We’re at Multiplay’s I41 this weekend and its rather good. It’s the UK’s biggest PC gaming LAN event, where you bring your own pc along with 3000-odd other people, eat a ton of junk food and Red Bull, and of course play as many bloody games as you can possibly cram in. So far, Paul has played through the entirety of CODBLOPS singleplayer and we played through Unreal Tournament 3’s singleplayer campaign in co-op in 2 marathon sittings. If you like games, you’ll probably like it here. Read More ››

Stranded on the M3!

Aaaaaargh! I’m currently sat inside Winchester Services on the M3. My car’s headlights decided to stop working, and I’m waiting for the AA man to arrive. Luckily this place has free wi-fi, and I’m able to sit here blogging this and login to Steam to play Braid on my little netbook. I wish I was at home playing New Vegas… Read More ››

A Perfect Society Built on Achievement Points…

Imagine if real life had an achievement system. Imagine if you could earn ‘points’ for helping around your neighbourhood, which you could then spend on various rewards, such as movie tickets, or a free flight, or a brand new tv. Different acts would have to be valued and assigned a certain reward. Litter picking could grant a small amount of points whereas volunteering at a homeless shelter would surely deserve a bigger prize. The most startling thing about this is that I may not have to imagine this for much longer. Apparantly, my local council is trying to finalise plans to introduce this system sometime in the near future.

Fallout: New Vegas – I has it!

So a rather large package arrived at work today, smelling faintly of nuclear radiation. My Fallout New Vegas special edition had arrived! I’ve been waiting a while for this, as a big fan of Fallout 3, I’m quite stoked and ready to explore more of the wasteland. I hurried home, got back in record time thanks to the traffic gods’ leniency, slapped the disc into my disc drive, and…

Review – Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

You are Monkey, a captive aboard a huge flying ship being taken to the Pyramid where you will be turned into a slave. In an explosive opening level, the ship crash lands in post-apocalyptic New York, which has been devoid of humans for the past 150 years and as such, is a little overgrown. After being knocked unconscious from the impact, you wake up to find yourself enslaved anyway, albeit by the slightly friendlier Trip, who just wants to get home. And the journey begins…

Currently playing… DR2, Sonic 4 & Enslaved

Again, I find myself with too many games and too little time. Right now I’m in the middle of slaying thousands of zombies using a ridiculous arsenal of home-made weaponry, feeling nostalgic and old for the first time ever because of a classic 2D platformer, and am climbing and fighting my way across an overgrown jungley wasteland inhabited by killer robots. Below are some thoughts of Dead Rising 2, Sonic 4 Episode 1, and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, so far…

Left 4 Dead Blowout News Hyper Special!

So much Left 4 Dead related shit right now! Firstly, the final part of The Sacrifice comic is out, and you can read it right here. Second, linked to that, The Sacrifice DLC is available today, and if you own either Left 4 Dead or L4D2, you can download it through Steam for free! Thirdly, Left 4 Dead 2 is now available on the Mac, and Valve have promised OSX support for the original L4D before Halloween arrives. And finally, to celebrate all of this, Valve have SLASHED (with a katana) the price of both games in one of their ridiculous sales – pick up either game for about a fiver, or get both for just under 8 quid. Rock on. Read More ››

Buried – Movie Review

Buried is the most claustrophobic film I’ve ever seen. It’s almost unbearable at times, and judging by the squirms and noises coming from several people sitting around me in the cinema, I was not the only person who felt genuine pity for Ryan Reynolds: a kidnapped man trapped in a wooden coffin, 6 feet underground in the Iraqi desert, with nothing but a mobile phone and a zippo for company.
